# Create a dashboard

> Start a new dashboard and add your first charts.

## Creating a dashboard

1. Navigate to **Dashboards** in the sidebar.
2. Click **New dashboard**.
3. Give your dashboard a name and optional description.

You now have an empty dashboard ready for charts.

## Adding charts

1. Click the **+** button on the dashboard.
2. Select a [dataset](/datasets/overview) to pull data from.
3. Choose a display type, [Table](/charts/table), [Graph](/charts/graph), or [Statistics](/charts/statistics).
4. Configure the chart (axes, aggregations, etc.).
5. The chart appears on the grid.

Repeat to add more charts. You can mix display types freely on the same dashboard.

## Using the AI

Open the chat panel (**Cmd+/**) and describe what you want:

> "Create a dashboard called Sales Dashboard with a line chart of monthly revenue and a stats card showing total orders"

The AI can create the dashboard, pick datasets, configure charts, and place them on the grid.
