Every dataset has a visibility setting that determines who can access it.

Private datasets

A private dataset is only visible to its owner (the person who created it). Other members of the organization cannot see it in the dataset list or use it on boards. Private datasets are useful for exploratory work, drafts, or sensitive queries you’re not ready to share.

Shared (organization) datasets

By default, datasets are visible to everyone in your organization. Any member can:
  • See the dataset in the dataset list.
  • Use it as the data source for charts on boards.
  • View the query and results.
Only the owner can edit or delete a shared dataset.

Changing visibility

Toggle a dataset between private and shared from the dataset page. You can also ask the AI to share or make a dataset private.

Private datasets on boards

If a chart on a board references a private dataset that the current viewer doesn’t own, the chart shows a placeholder state indicating the data is private. The chart will not display the underlying data or query.
